Formerly of Oakland, CA She graduated from Oakland Senior High School in 1979, San Francisco State University in 1984 and received a MA in Organizational Management from Dallas Baptist University in 2000.

Karen was married to Anthony (Tony) Grant, who were high school sweethearts and shared 27 years of loving marriage. They were blessed with two beautiful children Nicholas (25) and Kristen (20). Karen was a passionate woman who loved the Lord. Karen's family was her priority where she was a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her loving husband Anthony (Tony) Grant, son Nicholas, daughter Kristen, mother Billie Joyce Butler (all of Arlington, TX), father Herman Butler (Emeryville, CA), brothers Carlos Butler (Bay Point, CA), Eric Butler (Benicia, CA), sister Irene Butler (Newberg, OR) and mother-in-law Florida Grant (Oakland, CA) with a host of family and friends. Karen was equally special as a wife, daughter, sister and friend. Blessed were those who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wed., Jan. 9th at 11am, C.P. Bannon Mortuary, 6800 International Blvd., Oakland, CA 94621. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Dr., Richmond, CA 94803.
