Diana Fay Chartier, age 57, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside
in San Ramon, CA on November 15, 2008 after a long illness.
Diana was born November 2, 1951 in Oakland, CA the second of four children, to Linda Woo and the late Henry Woo. She attended Oakland's Bella Vista Elementary and McChesney
Junior High School, and graduated from Oakland High School in 1969. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the
California State University, East Bay in 1974. On March 17, 1974, she married the love of her life, Dr. Douglas
Chartier, whom she met while both worked at Kaiser Permanente. Diana devoted her life to teaching the Bay Area's
youth, having received a Masters in Education from the California State University, East Bay in 1994 and having
served for over twenty years as a dedicated elementary school teacher in Oakland and at Wilson Elementary School
in San Leandro, CA.
Above all else, she loved her supportive family, her many headstrong cats, and her bottomless
closet of designer shoes and handbags. She was the cherished and loving mother of her four children, Douglas
Chartier, Jr. of New York, NY; Daniel Chartier of Seattle, WA; Rebecca O'Connor of Houston, TX; and Amanda Chartier
of San Ramon. She is also survived by her husband; her mother; her brothers Gilbert Woo of Dublin CA and Albert Woo
of Oakland; and her sister Janet Diangson of Martinez, CA.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, at
1:00 pm at Albert Brown Mortuary, 3476 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers,
donations be given to Kaiser Hospice Martinez in her name. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
