Mark Rubin died from complications of diabetes. He was 63.

Raised in Oakland, he attended Montclair Elementary, Montera Junior High, and Oakland High, graduating in 1969. He worked for his father at H&J Rubin Metal and later worked at the Montclair hardware store from 1981 to 2001. His last full-time job was at Knob Hill Foods in San Ramon.

Mark's favorite activity was watching trains with friends, and he traveled all over the country to see them. He particularly liked Martinez, spending hours with his scanner radios, listening for trains and watching them go by.

He is survived by his brother Owen Rubin and sister-in-law Dianne Jacob of Oakland, and sister Laura Rubin of Walnut Creek.
