Resident of San Lorenzo

Pat Dwonch left this life quietly in her sleep on Saturday while a resident of an Independent Living Facility in San Lorenzo. She battled mental illness for most of her life, but through it all, she maintained a loving, understanding and charitable spirit. If she could give everyone she knew their heart's desire, she would, at any cost to herself. Money and possessions were not important to her, her reward in life was to see a smile placed on the face of a friend or loved one. She had a very generous heart. Pat was raised to be conscientious and responsible. Even in the face of the adversity of her illness, she maintained high standards of living. Her only vice was smoking which would eventually complicate her health with COPD.

Pat was born in Hoboken, NJ, the sixth of nine children to John and Theresa Dwonch, both deceased. After moving with her family to the Fruitvale/Dimond district of Oakland in 1959, she graduated from Oakland High School in 1967. She enjoyed music and played clarinet in school. She also loved horseback riding and was a proficient self-taught rider. Pat was an artist of photography, painting, charcoal, sculpture and words. She later attended Holly Names College in Oakland on a scholarship. For a short time, she also was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service with a route in Oakland.

Patricia is survived by her brothers: John, of Baileys Harbor, WI, Nicholas, of San Leandro, CA, Lawrence, of Myrtle Point, OR, Richard, of Boise, ID, Thomas, of Walla Walla, WA and Michael, of Woodland, CA and her sister, Deborah, Of Battle Ground, WA. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph.

There will be no formal services per Pat's request, inurnment at a later date at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Hayward, CA.
