Gregory Pete, born June 13, 1947 in Berkeley, died on April 7.

A graduate of Oakland High School, he attended Merritt Junior college and received his bachelor's degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley in and a masters degree in Journalism, also from UC Berkeley.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Reid Pete and father Herman Rideaux Pete.

He leaves behind two brothers Dennis Pete and Geoffrey Pete, both of whom owe a huge debt of gratitude to their older brother for his immense sacrifice on their behalf, his strong sense of Black Power advocacy, Intellect and strength.

Gregory Pete also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 25 at 1 p.m. at 410 14th St. in Oakland.
