Carol Anne Gilkey Carol MacKenzie, 70, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2016 with her family singing Kumbaya as she requested. Carol worked for the Contra Costa County Conservation & Development Dept. for 19 years as a graphics technician. She grew up in Oakland and moved to Concord, 33 years ago to be with her partner Margaret Cardenas (Mac). Carol was a graduate of Oakland High School. This kind and gentle soul is also survived by her son Jair, her sister Beth, niece Jenni, nephews Ian, Dan, Jack and sister-in-law Judy Gilkey. Predeceased by her brother Dan Gilkey. Carol enjoyed camping with her friends and vacationing near the ocean. She enjoyed listening to all types of music and took guitar lessons, ukulele lessons and harp lessons. Carol Anne Gilkey (MacKenzie)Carol expressed her graphic artist side with various craft projects such as origami, painting, card making and anything else she could get her hands on.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA 94521. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the chapel. Reception to follow.
