Harriet Smith, 69, of Pleasanton, died peacefully in her home on March 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Harriet was born on December 8, 1943 in Berkeley, CA to Margaret and William Hugh Wallace. She graduated from Oakland Senior High School. Harriet married her high school sweetheart, Bob Smith, on August 29, 1965 in Lawton, OK and lived in Pleasanton, CA with her family.

Harriet's zest for life touched those who knew her. She gave of herself tirelessly to the community as a volunteer with the Assistance League of Amador Valley helping teenage mothers, underprivileged children, and senior citizens. She enjoyed cycling, gardening, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her sons adored her and at the end the day, she cherished her quiet moments with the love of her life, Bob.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Harriet is survived by her loving husband of almost 48 years, Bob; her children Rob and his wife Nancy of Guerneville and Stuart and his wife Wendy of Pleasanton; and her grandsons Trevor, Christian, Gavin, Keaton, and Riley. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Saxton of Ridgecrest, CA.

Friends and family are invited to attend a living memorial service which will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Community Church, 4455 Del Valle Pkwy in Pleasanton.
