LOVTANG, Olav George -- Born July 16, 1936 in Oakland, Ca. Went home to be with his Lord on December 28, 2000. A resident of Rossmoor, he died peacefully surrounded by his loving family, wife Pam, daughters, June Slattum and Karen Lovtang, and grandchildren Annie, Kari, Erik Sven Olav and Michael.

George graduated from Oakland High School. He attended Pacific Lutheran University and Diablo Valley College. He served in the Army in Germany for 4 years as a helicopter mechanic. He was an Oakland Police Dept. officer for 3 years, then attended the California Highway Patrol Academy receiving an assignment to Contra Costa County, transfering to Sonora where he retired after 25 years with the C.H.P.

George is survived by his three daughters, June Slattum (Kevin), grandchildren, Annie, Kari, Erik Sven Olav; Karen Lovtang and grandson Michael Bruzzone, (Karens fiance Bob George and his children Carrie and Jon; Ruth Ann Dillon (Rich). Also survived by his loving wife Pam and her children, Carol Chappell (Christian) grandchildren McKinnon and Cameron; Karen Capozzo (Ed) and grandchildren Samantha and Monica; his sister Mary Ann Bayne (Jerry) and cousins Olav Lovtang, Roy Lovtang and Harald Lovtangen and many relatives in Norway. Godfather to Geoffrey Bayne and Dave Hunter.

George was an incredibly sweet Norwegian and a totally good man. He loved life and gave of himself to all who were in need. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 25 years and was passionate about sharing his Pinecrest cabin with family and friends. Was a member of the Sons of Norway since 1964 and he loved to sing. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lafayette.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1035 Carol Lane, Lafayette, CA. Interment will be at Alamo-Lafayette Cemetery District, 3285 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette on Monday, January 15, 2001 at 10:00 A.M..
