Deanna Ryan (Armstrong/Tener), a very loving and devoted mother, passed away on August 18, 2009 after a three year battle with Cancer. She was 72 years old. Born June 24, 1937 in Oakland, Ca. where she grew up and graduated from Oakland high school in 1955 with high honors. Deanna married her high school sweetheart Thomas Tener in 1955. They started a family having 4 wonderful children. Tylene followed by Linda, and then blessed with having two boys Michael and Thomas. They moved to Livermore in the summer of 1964 then found herself facing a divorce in 1967.
Bound and determined to continue to provide a wonderful life for her children Deanna gained employment at the Lawrence Livermore Lab as a cook where she remained for the next twelve years. After much consideration Deanna and Tom got back together, remarried and moved to Amador County in 1980. Deanna and Tom tried really hard to make it work but eventually filed for divorce and went their separate ways.
Deanna moved back to Livermore and began working at Pac Bell as a Chef. After getting her feet back on the ground she found love once again with Albert Ryan and married on September 22, 1989. They did lots of traveling and enjoying life together before Albert's passing on July 27, 2002. Deanna then became very active in the Wife's of Submarine Veterans W.W.II, and in 2003 became National President.
Before being diagnosed with Cancer in June of 2006, Deanna was reunited with long time friend Robert (Bob) Robinson whom remained with her until her passing. Once getting through twelve months of Chemotherapy and six months of Radiation, Deanna then began to enjoy life once again. She started out with one of her biggest enjoyments, her home and continued to do some traveling. Towards the end of 2008 Deanna found herself at the doctors more times then she thought right. In June 2009, after receiving results from an MRI, she was given two to six months to live.
Throughout her battle with Cancer, Deanna was also struck with the death of her two daughters. Being diagnosed with a terminal disease Deanna was able to live out her last 2 months of life at her home with son's Mike and Tom by her side. Deanna is survived by her two sons, eight grand children, and five great grand children.
