Jon G. Benson passed away on March 19th at the age of 78. He was born in Bemidji, Minnesota to Tom and Laura Benson. As a young boy his family settled in Oakland, California. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1952.

The day after graduating from high school, Jon set out on a road trip to Alaska. This would be the beginning of many life adventures that included driving a truck through France for the United States Army, starting a paving business with his two brothers, Dick and Larry, having a successful career in real estate for over forty years, and traveling the world with his wife, Yvonne and friends.

Jon cherished his many lifelong friendships. We will all remember his warmth, fantastic sense of humor and creative pranks.

Jon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne; sister, Pearl; and brothers, Dick and David. He is survived by his brother, Larry; daughter, Rochelle and husband Brian; stepson, Bill and wife Arla; stepson, Jeff. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 4, at 2:00 PM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 399 Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek.
