Oakland

Lifelong resident of Oakland. Graduate of Oakland High School, and then Mills College, in Biology, in 1951. Married Dan X. Solo in 1951. Red Cross canoe, life saving, and swimming instructor. Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Active member of the League of Women Voters for thirty years. Member and leader of many clubs and committees at Saint Paul's Towers, a retirement community where she lived. In 1980, she went back to school to study computer science and programming. She then worked for twenty five years as a consultant to large retail, manufacturing, and banking companies, including getting ready for the expected Y2K catastrophe. Finally, fifty years after receiving her Biology degree, she applied this knowledge and interest by working and volunteering at the Chabot Science Center, teaching and demonstrating to Beverly Bostick groups. Loved Art, Science, History and the Oakland Symphony.

Block OSurvived by a brother, Neely J. Bostick (Joyce), Morrison, CO, children Julie Solo, Auburn, CA, Brad Solo, Oakland, CA, Jeph Solo (Karen), Columbia, CA. Also by grandchildren Justin, Anna, Ben, Michael, Daniel, Tiffany, great-grandchildren Saige, Kiersten, Lucas, and great-great grandson Hudson. Also by many cousins of the Zahner and Collier families.

A memorial will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 18th, at Saint Paul's Towers, 100 Bay Street, Oakland, CA
