Blanche Barnett (Murphy) McKenzie Apr. 2, 1929-Aug.16, 2012 Resident of Pleasant Hill and Brentwood Blanche was born in Oakland, CA and attended Oakland High. She married Jim Dobson and had two children, Debbie & Gary. During her 30 yrs in banking she became Operations Officer at Centennial Bank in Hayward. Later she married Sherman Murphy. After his passing she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Peter McKenzie. They moved to Summerset, in Brentwood, where they lived happily for over 13 years playing golf, going to casinos and socializing with friends. After Pete's passing in Dec.2009, Blanche moved to The Chateau in Pleasant Hill in Dec.2011. She was a strong, independent woman who was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was sharp as a tack until the very end. She will be missed by family & friends. She is survived by daughter Debbie (Dobson) Walsh, son Gary Dobson, grandchildren Justin Walsh, Max Oleksiak, Bret Shaw, Tyler Dobson, Erin (Dobson) Murray & Lisa Dobson, and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends will gather to remember Blanche at the Summerset 1 Clubhouse on Sunday, Aug.26 from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to National Parkinson's Foundation or National Heart Foundation.
