Herman David "Dave" Holleyman died peacefully at home in Stockton CA at age 88, on May 31, 2017.
Born in Okmulgee OK to Herman and Inez Holleyman, Dave remained in Oklahoma until his early teen years when he moved to Oakland CA. Returning to Newkirk OK to complete his junior year at Chilocco Indian School, Dave graduated from Oakland High School in 1947. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. During his 4 years of service he was selected as honorman and received numerous medals.
He was a Master Mason at Mt. Davidson Lodge in San Francisco.
The majority of Dave's career was spent with AT&T/Pacific Bell. He retired in 1992 with 30 years service.
He was happiest when surrounded by his family and close friends. Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating with his family, following the stock market, creating computer spreadsheets and watching movies.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; children Karen Covello (Craig), Jill Denton-Woodbury (Kyle Denton) and Jennifer Holleyman (Luke Lopez); grandchildren Chase Covello (Amar), Cameron Covello, Carmen Bengoa (Rusty), Paige Denton, Dylan Woodbury and Diego Lopez-Holleyman; great grandchildren Mia Woodbury, Camilla Bengoa and JS Covello; sister Rhoda Schreiner, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave was preceded in death by his brother Darrell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery, Lodi CA in the Evergreen Chapel.
