"Who do you know who loves ballet, bonsai, birds... and played football?"

That was Neil Thrams.

Born in Casper, Wy. to Ina and Frank Thrams. Moved to California at eight months old and resided in the Bay Area for the rest of his life. Resident of Orinda for 33 years.

Graduated Oakland High in 1944. Played varsity football at Cal - UC Berkeley - 1944 to 1946. Member Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Served in WWII in the Naval Air Transport (South Pacific). Graduated Cal 1949. Married his "high school sweetheart," Ruth Marie Ransom, July 10, 1949.

Neil ThramsNeil's career started in construction with his dad & uncle at C.H. Thrams Construction. In 1968, he started the "Neil Thrams Ticket Agency" (in the family since 1937). He loved opera, symphony, sports and all the events he sold tickets to.

Neil was true competitor with a lifelong love of sports. He played golf in Scotland, Ireland, Spain, France, throughout California, and mostly at Orinda Country Club, where he was President in 1984.

Neil loved & adored family & friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruthie, his two children, Andie Thrams and Brent Thrams, and their respective spouses, Dennis Eagan and Andrea Kincaid, and one precious granddaughter, Piper Thrams. Sister-in-law, June Hannon. Niece, Stacy Frawley (Richard). Nephew, Ransom Stephens (Karen). And cousins, Bruce and Gini Harter.

He was always so proud of his two children for bringing artistic beauty into the world.

His strength and vigor were surpassed only by his love. His echoing laugh will live on in all of our hearts forever.

There will be a celebration of Neil's life at Orinda Country Club on August 9th at 3:00pm. Contributions in Neil's memory can be made to Hospice of the East Bay or the charity of your choice.
