Lois Bailey, 86, of San Lorenzo, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Kaiser Permanente Hayward of complications of metastatic melanoma.

Lois was born May 21, 1926 at home in the country in Oklahoma to James Hosea and Maggie Hayes. She grew up in Ninnekah, Oklahoma and moved to Alameda County in 1942 where she graduated from Oakland High School in 1944. She was married to Kenneth Bailey, originally of Ardmore, Oklahoma on June 16, 1946 at Little Chapel of the Flowers, Berkeley, CA. They moved to San Lorenzo and bought their home in 1951 where they lovingly raised their family. She enjoyed sewing and gardening for many years of her life. She also was a member of the San Lorenzo Community Church. She was well known for her quick country wit, her down home style, and her love and hospitality to all she knew.

Lois HayesLois is survived by her husband, Ken, son, Bradley Bailey, and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Bailey, daughter, Cara Ruiz, and son-in-law, Thomas Ruiz, as well as 4 grandchildren, Amanda Bailey, Claudette Bailey, Christina Ruiz, and Matthew Ruiz. She is also survived by her sister, Anita Reisman of Camarillo and several nieces and nephews. Lois now moves on to be with her parents whom predeceased her as well as her sister, Marcheta Cannon, and brother, Warner Hayes. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 5-9pm and a funeral service on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 1:30pm both at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd., (510) 471-3363.
