Arthur E. "Bud" Forderer, Jr.

Arthur Bud passed away on March 29, 2013. He was a lifetime resident of Oakland and Piedmont.He was born February 9, 1924 in Oakland to Arthur and Marguerite Forderer. He attended Oakland High School, where he was an All League OAL Halfback. He attended the University of California Berkeley and played on the Freshman football team. Following his freshman year, he enlisted in the Army and served in the 100th Infantry Company B Sergeant Mortar Platoon. He was in combat during the "Champagne Campaign" from October 1944 to the end of World War II in May of 1945.

Following the war, Bud finished his studies at Cal and began working at Forderer Cornice Works in San Francisco. He was President of the company from 1963 to 1994. In 1948 he married Dorothy Jeane Mills. Following her death in 1998 he married Sandy Hagglund.

Arthur Bud's primary hobbies were golf and gardening. He especially loved his annual trips to Maui. He was a past member of the San Francisco Rotary Club, and a current member of Sequoyah Country Club and Claremont Country Club.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, Daughter Joan Breznikar (Paul Yezzi), and Sons Carl (Julie) Forderer and Curt (Sandy) Forderer. His surviving grandchildren are Jonathan (Jacqui) Breznikar, Erin (Jason) Winters, Jackson Forderer, Mitchell (Colleen) Forderer, Joseph (Kristine) Forderer, Emily (Matt) Fisher and Robert Forderer. His great-grandchildren are Molly and Dylan Breznikar and Ellie Winters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by wife Sandy's children: Carey Condy, Jay (Carole) Hagglund, Courtney (Ted) Gallagher and Craig (Meagan) Hagglund, as well as many grandchildren.

Bud will be remembered for his gentle spirit and sense of humor, which he retained until the end. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
