Robert Knag Brorsen
Robert K. Brorsen passed away peacefully at his home on December 30th, 2014. Bob had celebrated his 90th birthday in San Francisco on August 8th, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife of 66 years, Joy Moosman, his three children, William, Jennifer and Christopher, his three grandchildren, Jake, Leah Joy and Neil, his daughter-in-law, Karen and son-in-law, Richard DeMartini. They celebrated overlooking one of his favorite views, the San Francisco Bay.
Bob was born in Oakland, California, the son of Willard and Katherine Brorsen. When he was young, he and his older brother Jim would often summer at their cabin in Santa Cruz. He attended Oakland High School where he graduated in 1942.
From 1943 to 1946 he was in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served in the South Pacific on the New Mexico. He was later stationed in Washington, D.C. where he was on the crew of Admiral Ernest King's Dauntless. After his discharge, he attended the University of California at Berkeley where he received a B.S. degree.
In 1949, Bob joined the Photostat Corporation and rose to National Sales manager with a move to Rochester, New York. After leaving Photostat in 1960, the Brorsen family moved back to the Bay Area and Bob and a partner formed Blue Print Service. BPS prospered and grew with offices in San Francisco, the East Bay and the Peninsula.
Bob was active in the PARCA association as well as the Kiwanis and the Key Club, the Commercial Club, the San Francisco Fly Casting Club and the Hillsborough Racquet Club.
After his retirement, Bob and Joy explored the world, traveling to 126 countries. He was an avid fisherman, casting his line on the Truckee as well as rivers in Montana, Argentina and New Zealand. In his later years he developed Parkinson's Disease. The family would like to thank Bob's wonderful caregivers, Tom Haupeakui, Garfield Powers and Joejo Padernilla. Funeral services will be for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, NYC, NY 10163).
