Russell Herbert Green

Born November 13, 1923, passed away January 30, 2012 in Walnut Creek, CA.
Born and raised in Oakland, CA., Russ was a lifelong Bay Area resident. He graduated from Oakland High, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and graduated from Cal Berkeley in 1947 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in Control System Engineering and worked in that industry for over 40 years.

Russ loved music, sang bass in his church choirs and the Devil Mountain Chorus, was a drum major for the Cal band, and was an avid jazz fan. He also loved history, volunteered at Shadelands Ranch Museum in Walnut Creek, and served as president of the Walnut Creek Historical Society. He and Eileen, his wife of 63 years, enjoyed travelling and had many happy memories of their trips to over 45 countries. Russ enjoyed the outdoors, backpacking in the Sierras as a young man, and introducing the family to some memorable camping experiences as a husband and father. He leaves his wife, Eileen Lammers Green, his daughter, Carol, son, Dale, nieces and nephews, and many good friends. We will miss him terribly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the Dollar Clubhouse, Rossmoor, 1015 Stanley Dollar Dr., Walnut Creek, CA. 94595.
