Family and friends will miss the warm smile, caring personality and vibrant conversations of Norma McKenzie who left us on January 11, 2017. Born Norma Jean Breese in Oakland, California on November 11, 1923, she married Dr. John "Dex" McKenzie (1923-2003) shortly after he returned from Europe serving his country in World War II. Together they are survived by daughter Ann Petterle, sons John McKenzie and David McKenzie, grandchildren Jason Willis, Kelly Willis and Andrew Willis, and great grandchildren Finn and Liam Dorrity.

The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lester Breese, Norma graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and UC San Francisco Dental School where she was one of but four women in the Dental Hygiene program. She was a founding member and served as Deacon of the Moraga Valley Presbyterian church where she also taught Sunday school. Norma volunteered her services in several areas including "working" at Contact Care, a crisis counseling hotline. Throughout her years Norma lovingly touched many lives and will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
