Beloved husband of Mavis Lynde Nielsen and the late Virginia Nielsen, caring brother of Elizabeth Mortensen, Eric Nielsen and Mary "Dolly" McDonald, devoted father of Kathy Rothway, Leslie Katz, Brian Nielsen and Peggy Woods, cherished grandfather of Mark and Krista Katz, Michelle and Joey Rothway, Ryan and Christine Woods and Brian Nielsen Jr.

Roger was pre-deceased by his first wife of 58 years, Virginia. Born in Oakland, CA, graduated from Oakland High School and the California College of Arts & Crafts. He relocated to Medford, Oregon following his retirement.

After losing his first wife, he returned to the Bay Area and settled in Rossmoor where he met Mavis Lynde. They were blessed with two happy years together. He had a great fondness for dogs and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the Dog Park. He put his artistic talents to good use designing and building miniature homes. A truly wonderful man with a gentle spirit and positive outlook on life, he will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
