Jan. 8, 1922 ~ Aug. 23, 2014
Resident of Walnut Creek
A loving family man, Len passed away August 23 after a life devoted to Fay, his wife of nearly 68 years, and his extended family. Born January 8, 1922, in Oakland to Golda and Hymen Reisfelt, Len was the second oldest and longest surviving of five siblings. He attended Oakland High School and U.C. Berkeley before enlisting in the navy at the start of WWII. He served in Naval Intelligence , and later saw action on a seaplane tender in the Pacific theater. Upon returning from the war, he married Fay Weiser on October 13, 1946.
Following in the family tradition, he had a long and successful career in the lighting industry, eventually becoming the president of Galaxy Lighting. Len's passion, however, was always his family: his wife, daughters Susan (Ronald) Dow and Judy Chalifour, son Robert (Susan) Reisfelt, his eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. A celebration of Len's life will be held this fall. If you wish to send something in his memory, the family would appreciate donations to the Contra Costa Solano Food Bank, or to your favorite charity .
