Muriel James Muriel E. Paul Jun. 21, 1921 Mar. 10, 2012 Resident of Benicia Muriel, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 10 at home after a short illness. She was born in Oakland, CA and graduated from Oakland High School. She worked for the PGE and Telephone company during World War II until she married Joseph T. Paul in 1945. They raised three children in the East Oakland Hills, Chabot district and then moved to Benicia in 1976. Muriel loved gardening, hiking, and traveling. She became a Master Gardener and was involved in many local garden clubs. She was also active in several organizations in Benicia including the Historical Society, the Fischer-Hanlon House Volunteers and the Benicia Old Town Theater Group. Muriel James PaulPreceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Paul, her sister Norma, and her granddaughter Jennifer Paul. She is survived by her sons, Robert Paul of Washington State and Gary Paul of Benicia; and daughter Susan Alton of Vallejo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Robert Paul II, Matthew Paul, David Paul, and Christina Alton. Memorial services were held Monday, March 12 at First Baptist of Benicia. Inurnment will be at St. Dominic's Cemetery, Benicia. Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel.
