Eleanor Lewis was a long time resident of Lafayette, CA, where she lived since 1957. Born in the East Bay community of Oakland, to the late Boyd and Eva Anderson, Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Lewis. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kathleen Lewis of Lafayette, Michelle Lewis of Concord, her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Connie Lewis of Moraga, and her granddaughters, Caitlin Kara and Megan Lewis.

A devout Catholic, Eleanor enjoyed long visits with her grandchildren, family excursions and vacations, entertaining family and friends, and rooting for the San Francisco Giants and Cal Bears. Eleanor and her husband, Tom, marched in anti-war demonstrations in the 1970s, actively supported the United Farmworkers Union, valued her years as a member of the community of Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral in Oakland, and volunteered on behalf of Father Bill O'Donnell's Saint Joseph the Workman Church in Berkeley.

In 1980, Eleanor shared these words from Kahlil Gibran: "This day has ended... What was given us here we shall keep... Forget not that I shall come back to you... A little while, and my longing shall gather dust and foam for another body... A little while, a moment of rest upon the wind, and another woman shall bear me..."

A Mass celebrating Eleanor's life will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 1001 Camino Pablo, Moraga, CA 94556 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, CA.
