YOUNG ATTORNEY DIES OF TYPHOID

Former Prominent University Man, Passes Away

John A. BrewerOAKLAND, Dec. 17. - John A. Brewer, a young attorney of Oakland and a member of the Board of public library trustees, died at his home, 770 Kingston avenue, today of typhoid fever. Brewer was born in Oakland 31 years ago. He was a graduate of the Oakland high school and of the Hastings law college of the University of California with the class of 1903. While in the Oakland high school as well as in the university Brewer distinguished himself as a student. In 1905 he was private secretary to President Benjamin Ide Wheeler, and during that year was intimately connected with the affairs of the college. The Brewer family is known about the bay. John H. Brewer, his father, located in this section of the country in the early days. His father and mother and three sisters - Mrs. M. B. Fowler [Margaret Brewer, Class of 1881], Miss Anne W. Brewer [Class of 1885], vice president of the Oakland high school, and Miss Henrietta F. Brewer [Class of 1888] - all of this city, survive him. Brewer was a member of the Delta Upsilon - fraternity. The funeral arrangements have not been made.
